For the Love Of...
For decades, Expressions has been one of Baltimore’s most loved annual events. The weekend serves as both a critical fundraiser for the Baltimore School for the Arts and an opportunity for the community to gather in support of our city’s young artists.
This year we are honored to dedicate Expressions to Sally Michel, a treasured and beloved member of the BSA family. Sadly, Sally passed away this past August, but her profound impact on the entire Baltimore community and for all of us here at BSA, remains permanent. Only a year after BSA opened, Sally helped to shape the brilliant idea of throwing a party at BSA, where all of Baltimore would be invited to come to see students at work and to personally experience the magic of this special arts high school.
An event, like no other, would be appropriately named Expressions, would live on to become the BSA’s most celebrated event each year. Sally went on to chair Expressions for ten years, and through her leadership raised millions upon millions of dollars for our BSA children. Her unwavering commitment to this city has made it a better place for us all to live. Sally relied on the power of community; she knew that together our collective impact is limitless.
