Working with Your Environment

Immersive Theater Practices

How can we “see” with more than just our eyes?  In this workshop, participants will be lead through a series of exercises and games that explore how to not only exist seamlessly amidst an unusual landscape, but to also reflect and embody the properties of such a space. Techniques for graceful pedestrian movement and actions amidst a changing landscape of both physical structures and mobile audiences will also be explored. Comfortable clothes for movement recommended and knee pads encouraged. Prior theatrical movement experience or dance is absolutely not required.

Alberto Denis joined Third Rail Projects in 2011 performing in the Steampunk Haunted House. Since then, he has worked with Third Rail on numerous other projects. He originated the role of Lewis Carroll for the BESSIE Award-winning immersive theater hit Then She Fell in 2012, and he originated the role of the Activities Director in The Grand Paradise in 2016 (also performing the role of Dad in the show). Alberto enjoys moonlighting as international burlesque star GoGo Gadget, and he’s grateful to have worked with so very many incredible choreographers and artists over the years.
