Jmore's Jewish Entrepreneur Networking Event

Please join Jmore for our 2nd annual celebration of Baltimore's Jewish Entrepreneurs on June 4th, 2019 from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Maryland Historical Society. 
Jmore's event features a VIP cocktail hour for sponsors, honorees and their guests, followed by a moderated panel discussion, led by Ken Ulman.   Join us for a conversation with a panel of highly regarded local Jewish entrepreneurs.

Here's an introduction to our esteemed honorees...
Daniel Baumwald,  Vice President and General Manager of North America Retail and eCommerce for Performance Health, where he leads a geographically dispersed sales and marketing group with responsibility for all channels and sizes of retail accounts as well as the commercial elements of the company’s digital presence.  Previously, Daniel was co-founder and President of TheraPearl, where he generated years of triple digit growth to rapidly propel the upscale line of hot/cold packs from non-existent in 2008 to #1 in North America in 2014.   Mr. Baumwald was previously Director, National Accounts for the Drug Channel at the Coca-Cola Company.  Daniel is a serial entrepreneur, investor and brand builder who boasts deep experience with a wide range of categories such as Food & Beverage, Health Fitness, Therapy and Rehabilitation, OTC Drug and Personal Care and has personally done business with almost all of the top 100 retailers in North America. Living by the motto, “Personality with a purpose”, Dan’s infectious personality is all about winning, but making sure to have fun while doing so.

Wendy Bronfein, Director of Marketing for Curio Wellness. With a diverse background in creative services, business, and writing, Ms. Bronfein most recently served as creative director for the Emmy-award winning, Live with Kelly & Michael.  Previously, Wendy lent her talents to global entertainment brands, including MTV, BBCAmerica, and NBC Universal.  As an integrated marketer, she has seamlessly connected Fortune 500 companies through innovative, effective, brand-defining campaigns.  Wendy earned her MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, specializing in entrepreneurship/innovation and marketing.

Hanan Sibel was married for 60 years to Carole Chaimson Sibel.  Carole passed away 4 years ago.  They have 3 children, Steven, Todd and Cara and seven grandchildren.  Hanan attended School 64 and then School 49, Baltimore City College, and University of Maryland at College Park.  He was drafted upon graduating and served 2 years in the U.S. Army.  Hanan returned to Baltimore and attended the University of Maryland Law School, graduating in 1958.  Hanan served on the Law School board of visitors for 22 years. He also served on the Chancellor’s advisory council for Chancellors Toll, Langenberg and Kirwin.  Business/Community : Chaimson Food Brokerage 43 years as CEO and Chairman, Owner.  Hanan sold the company 20 years ago and is currently involved with Caves Valley Partners.  Directorships: 1st Mariner Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Signal 13 Police Foundation (6th President), Baltimore County Revenue Authority Chairman.  Jewish Community:  Hanan has an esteemed record... Chairman of Israel Bonds for State of Maryland, Associated Jewish Federation of Baltimore Board of Directors; Campaign chairman for Associated Jewish Federation of Baltimore; Founder of Maryland Israel Development Corporation which is now an agency of the Associated.  Vice President of Jewish National Fund. Carole and Hanan chaired the First Gala for Sinai hospital. Carole and Hanan chaired the first two Galas for the Friends of Israel Defense Forces where Hanan remains an advisor and Gala Honoree.

Jill Smokler, the founder of Scary Mommy, Jill has spent the last ten years creating and curating online content for parents, having grown her one-time “mommy blog” into one of the most influential digital parenting properties in the world.  During her tenure at Scary Mommy — most recently as Chief Content Officer — Jill used candor, humor, and humility to redefine the role and influence of parents online. Her commitment to publishing honest, compelling, and sometimes controversial content, combined with her uncanny sense of how parents are willing to interact with brands online, created a new kind of digital parenting ecosystem that has given moms a voice and brands a roadmap for engaging the sought after mom audience.  Jill is also a recognized thought leader who frequently speaks at women-centric events, conferences and on-air.  In 2017, by Forbes magazine named Jill a top ten parenting influencer.
