Benefitting Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region
Nestled between the banks of the Anacostia River lies a park dedicated to preserving natural resources and educating District youth about conservation and becoming better stewards of the natural world. Voted Best Music Festival in DC by City Paper readers in 2018, the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival will return to celebrate its 10th Anniversary this May!
Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2019 Lineup. As always, the day will feature an incredible roster of musical talent from all wards of the city, surrounding regions, diverse backgrounds, cultures, genders, and ages that represent the roots of bluegrass, folk, and Americana, as well as their modern interpretations.
Artist submissions are currently being accepted through January 25, 2018 on our website HERE.
The festival will feature delicious local cuisine from your favorite food trucks, craft beer, cocktails, local merchants, and fun for all ages through various outdoor activities, a kids’ zone, and much more.
As the District's premier Zero-Waste Festival, we ask that all attendees support our mission to keep the island clean and refrain from bringing disposable water bottles, food containers, etc. and please be conscientious when disposing of your trash at our Zero Waste Stations spread throughout the island. #ZeroWasteDC
The Festival celebrates Kingman Island as a gateway to DC's Anacostia River. Kingman Island is a "living classroom" connecting youth and the community to the environment and river. Proceeds from the Festival support stewardship of the island and hands-on education programming provided by Living Classrooms Foundation.
* Children 10 and under are admitted FREE to this event *
