WTMD Presents Saturday Morning Tunes

Sponsored by Live Baltimore, Garrison Forest School, Race Pace Bicycles, Heritage Hyundai Towson, Eddie's of Roland Park, (cool) progeny, THB Bagelry & Deli, Port Discovery Children's Museum, Lokalphoto and Baltimore Magazine

Welcome to Saturday Morning Tunes, an award-winning, family friendly concert series featuring stars of the children’s music scene, hosted at the WTMD performance studio in Towson!

When we were growing up, kids' music was pretty lame. These days, there's a whole genre of music called "kindie" or "kids rock," and it's full of really great musicians making songs you and your little ones can enjoy together. That's our mission: To present concerts you can enjoy with your kids -- not just for your kids.

The shows are every month on Saturday mornings, broadcast live on the radio with a live studio audience. We've had members of They Might Be Giants, Barry Louis Polisar (who wrote the theme song to "Juno"), Latin Grammy winner 1,2,3, Andres, Baltimore kids rock stars Milkshake and Baby Beats, and more. We put a band together to play all the theme songs from our favorite cartoons, and hosted a super funky "Schoolhouse Rock" tribute.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and the music runs from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Each performance has an opening act as well as a headliner.

We have snacks (organic fig bars and fruit strips) as well as drinks (Horizon milk and Honest juice) which are included in the ticket price for all kids. Race Pace Bicycles also sets up bicycles with training wheels for children to ride around the enclosed plaza outside our studio, and we have coffee and arts and crafts from Garrison Forest School

The WTMD performance studio is a bright, clean environment with comfy furniture that’s ideal for climbing and sitting. Both our men’s and women’s bathrooms have stainless steel changing tables, and stools for our bathroom sinks.

Also -- kids under 2 are free! However, please reserve a free spot for your kid(s) under 2 so we know how many little ones to expect. And Family Four Packs can be used with any combination of adults and children.

Thank you Baltimore Magazine for naming Saturday Morning Tunes a Best of Baltimore award winner! They wrote, "Kids can rejoice at this awesome new concert series, tailored just for them. Tip back a juice box and get ready to rock out."

Mini Holiday Spectacular Dec. 15 at Towson University!
Featuring songs from "Frozen" by Outcalls, super funky holiday songs from Parliament Funkadelic's Rufus Roundtree & Da Bmore Brass Factory, Opera in a Can and more!

We're pulling out all the stops for our first ever Mini Holiday Spectacular Dec. 15 at Towson University's West Village Commons Ballroom. By popular demand we're bringing back Outcalls' amazing performance of the songs from "Frozen" (which sold out two shows at the Baltimore School for the Arts earlier this year). Rufus Roundtree, an amazing horn player who's part of George Clinton's Parliament Funkadelic family, is bringing his Bmore Brass Factory along for a set of super funky holiday songs. And Towson University's Opera in a Can is opening the show with a set of traditional, kid-friendly holiday songs. Santa Claus will be there too, and we'll have snacks, coffee and more.

This show is being held in Towson University's new West Village Commons Ballroom, which has a dedicated private lactation room, stainless steel infant changing tables in all the bathrooms and free garage parking! It's easy to find, clean, carpeted and open, with no fixed seating.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday Dec. 15. See you there!

This show is a fundraiser to support children's programming on 89.7 WTMD, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public radio station. Tickets are non-refundable. This is an indoor show, and will go on rain or shine.

Tickets available here.

(Note: The "Music Animals" illustration at the top is by the incredible Baltimore artist and children's book author Kevin Sherry, who has painted all of the posters for this series. Check him out!)
