Great Baltimore Fire Event

Hundreds of firefighters gallantly battled the February, 1904 blaze that raged for two days and destroyed over 1,500 buildings. When it was finally over, downtown Baltimore lay in ruins.

Sunday, February 11, 2018

1 - 4 pm

At the Museum: 1301 York Road, Lutherville, MD 21093

Our afternoon begins with a lively account of the fire from historian Wayne Schuamburg, and a look at how firefighting continues to evolve today from Baltimore City Fire Chief William Goodwin (Ret.).  Visitors will view our Great Fire movie, and explore our extensive Great Fire exhibit. Museum Director Steven Heaver will give an interactive demonstration of our real working fire alarm office. Plus, your admission includes the chance to tour the Museum. You'll see more than 40 pieces of historic fire appaaratus, fire-themed artwork, toys, helmets, badges, and hydrants.

Included in your admission: sweet and savory snacks from our friends at Towson Delly North, and a cash bar featuring  locally crafted beer from Baltimore's Brew House No 16.
