"Inspiring the Next Generation" #KeepinItDC

Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts presents the Richard Wright 6th Annual Black Tie Gala at the magnificent Warner Theatre in beautiful downtown DC! This year's theme "Inspiring the Next Generation" honors notable individuals as inspirational leaders for youth in the media and entertainment industry. This red-carpet, black tie affair is an enticing evening of the arts, featuring notable musical artists, and short student-produced films from ROXIE Film Productions! We welcome the always entertaining Joe Clair of WPGC as this year's host, with co-host Dr. Renee Allen of WVLS' Renee Allen and Friends Show! Actress Bernadette Stanis, "Thelma" of "Good Times" will be in attendance as an inaugural honoree, as well as John Gibson, Adviser for Inclusion and Multicultural Outreach for the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. Among DC's own changmakers in their respective fields to be honored include: Denise Rolark Barnes, Publisher of the Washington Informer; Jim Watkins, WHUR's General Manager; Renee Nash, WHUR's Director of News and Public Affairs; District of Columbia United States Representative Franklin Garcia; Ezekiel Dennison, 3rd District Representative of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; and Reverend Tony Lee, Senior Pastor of Community of HOPE AME Church. Live entertainment will be featured from DC's own, Familiar Faces, and saxophonist Zedric Teague.
